Bollinger Bands Strategy for Binary Options

    Updated: 2026-09-17

Bollinger Bands measure volatility, not direction. Traders who treat a band touch as a reversal signal lose money in exactly the markets where the indicator is most useful.

    What the bands actually show

The bands sit two standard deviations from a moving average. Price touching the upper band means volatility is high and the move is strong, not that it is over.

In a ranging market the bands are flat and touches do mean fade opportunities. Read the shape of the bands before deciding which mode you are in.

    The squeeze

When the bands narrow to their tightest range in several hours, an expansion is coming. The squeeze does not tell you the direction, only the timing.

Trade the first candle that closes outside the squeeze in the direction of the higher-timeframe trend, and skip the trade if the trend is unclear.

    Combining with momentum

Bands plus RSI is the classic pairing: a band touch with an RSI divergence is a fade setup, a band touch without divergence is trend continuation.

Signal AI runs the same logic automatically, scoring volatility state before direction so that trend rides are not published as reversals.
