USD/JPY Trading Signals and Analysis
Updated: 2026-09-11
USD/JPY is the pair where the Asian session actually matters. It trends smoothly for long stretches, then reprices violently when Japanese authorities or US yields step in.
Session behaviour
Tokyo hours (00:00–07:00 UTC) give USD/JPY its most orderly moves, with exporters and importers providing steady two-way flow around round numbers.
The pair remains liquid through London and New York, so it is one of the few instruments with a usable signal quality across the whole trading day.
What to watch
US Treasury yields drive the trend. When ten-year yields rise, USD/JPY usually follows within the same session.
Intervention risk is real: near multi-decade highs, Japan has repeatedly moved the pair several hundred pips in minutes. Technical signals cannot anticipate that, which is a reason to keep position size fixed and small.
Signal quality on short expiries
Because USD/JPY respects round numbers, signals near levels like 150.00 or 152.50 are treated with extra caution by the engine — price often stalls there before continuing.
For 1–5 minute expiries, the strongest setups are pullbacks into an order block in the direction of the Tokyo-session trend, confirmed by momentum turning back up.
